“FISH AND CHIPS” “GENTLEMEN” “BECKHAM”……

“Do you know anything about England?” Inthe beginning of first English culture lesson, the teacher asked this question. He gave each student a note to write down their impressions of England."FISH AND CHIPS", "GENTLEMEN" and " BECKHAM "… When he read the note, the teacher's face lit up with expressions of surprise, delight and upset, as if he were particularly amused by the Chinese students' ideas about Britain.

Of course, as "foreigners", students' opinions inevitably contain some stereotypes. Next, in order to let students really understand Britain, the teacher explained the history of Britain specially. Starting from the first man on the British island, the whole history of Britain was surveyed.

The interesting English culture course was followed closely by the course of "Sustainable urban design in urban ecology". Professor. Eugene Mohareb asked, “what is cities more like”?Is it an organization, a machine, or an eco-system?Different opinions were given, and the course was held in an extremely enthusiastic atmosphere.Cities have their own metabolism, and each city is different, depending on geographical environment, climate, cultural differences, population status, pillar industries and so on. In the balance of comprehensive factors, the sustainability of cities is complex and changeable. The input of energy, the output of waste, the continuous operation of cities, and the understanding and assistance of its laws can maximize its amazing sustainability at the ecological level."Engineers are the people who change the world. "The professor typed out a slide at the end.He told students,” The world is complex and should be an explorer, not an audience”.

In the afternoon, we came to the simulation lab. Dr. Ian Ewart asked students to design the phone holder and generate the 3D model of the design. Students actively explored the unfamiliar software and put their ideas together to design various mobile phone holders. Then, Dr. Ian Ewart imported the design model into virtual reality and let students test it using the iPhone 8's virtual reality model. Finally, Dr. Ian Ewart analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of virtual reality, and warned students to distinguish between virtual reality and reality.
