Victoria has a reputation for the "The Garden City" and is considered the warmest city in Canada. As the capital of BC Province, Victoria is famous for its good and safe learning environment. It also has beautiful scenery, pleasant climate, dense culture and artistic atmosphere.

苏州外国语学校相城校区的14位中学生整装出发，

开启丰富多彩的加拿大维多利亚夏令营之旅。

This summer, 14 middle school students from the Suzhou Foreign Language School Xiangcheng Campus started a colorful summer camp tour of Victoria, Canada.

7月6日，夏令营学生们抵达温哥华后，转机前往维多利亚并顺利落地。

On July 6, students arrived in Vancouver and made a connecting flight to Victoria, where they landed safely.

住家们早早来到Uplands Campus，等待孩子们的到来。亲切的问候和关怀，让孩子们瞬间消除了异国他乡的陌生感！

The host families arrived early at Uplands Campus, waiting for the children to arrive. Kind greetings and care helped children wear off the unfamiliarity from different cultures immediately!

经过一天的休整，孩子们开始上学啦！

After a day's rest, our children began to go to school!

维多利亚大学 (University of Victoria)建校于1963年，是加拿大的一所顶尖学府。2018年被加拿大Maclean杂志评选出全加综合性大学排名第2。该校下设10个学院，学生超过2万人，强势专业包括数理科学、海洋科学、气候研究、清洁能源技术、商科等。

Tracing its roots back to Victoria College, which was founded in 1903, the University of Victoria is the oldest post-secondary institution in British Columbia. In 2018, it is ranked second comprehensive university in Canada by Maclean's. (Maclean's is a Canadian news magazine that was founded in 1905, reporting on Canadian issues.) The university has 10 colleges with more than 20,000 students, including mathematical science, marine science, climate research, clean energy technology, business and so on.

 

夏令营课程安排表

英语作为第二语言（ESL）的指导和支持，每周至少要进行22小时的课堂ESL学习和当地文化活动。

课堂教学侧重于培养阅读，写作，听力和口语技能，重点是针对特定目的的交际英语：在学校，家庭和社区与当地人互动交流。

Instruction and support in English as a second language (ESL),Minimum 22 hours of class—based ESL learning plus local cultural activities each week. Classroom instruction focuses on developing skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking with emphasis on communicative English for specific purposes. Many opportunities for interaction with Canadians at school, home, and in the community.

周六全天进行当地文化活动，活动由经验丰富的协调人指导进行，并配备一名 “文化助理”同行协助。

Full—day local cultural activities on Saturdays，Activities were led by highly experienced facilitators and assigned a“Cultural Assistant”.

 

皮划艇运动 Kayaking

皮划艇运动最初起源于加拿大，以渔猎为生的加拿大原著印第安人将树干掏空，坐在里面用木棍滑行。如今的皮划艇运动已发展为一项加拿大人酷爱的回归自然、挑战自然的户外时尚运动。

Kayaking originated in Canada as a sport. Canadian Indians who lived on fishing and hunting made the first kayaks by emptying trunk. They sat in the kayak and used the paddles to move across the river. Kayaking nowadays has evolved into a fashionable outdoor activity favoured by Canadians, which represents their wishes of returning to nature and challenging nature.

 

Goldstream探险

Goldstream Provincial Park距离维多利亚市中心仅17公里，坐落在一片古老的温带雨林中。在那里，您可以看到世界级的鲑鱼产卵溪流，在10月至12月期间有数千只鲑鱼返回。该中心位于河口，俯瞰着Goldstream河口，坐落在巨大的黑色三叶杨和红桤树之间。

Just 17 kilometers from downtown Victoria, Goldstream Provincial Park lies amid the splendour of an old-growth temperate rain forest. There you can see a world-class salmon-spawning stream with thousands of Chum Salmon returning from October to December. The centre is at the mouth of the river, overlooking the Goldstream estuary, nestled among giant black cottonwoods and red alder trees.

Learn about the climate formation and environmental change in BC province, Maya civilization, First Nations' residences (In Canada, the First Nations are the predominant indigenous peoples in Canada south of the Arctic Circle.), masks, totems, etc.

 

布查特花园Butchart Tour

四季花开复随，庭园造景更是令人叹为观止，人间仙境莫过于此。2004年布查特花园被评为"加拿大国家历史遗址"。

The garden is stunning with flowers every season and filled with breathtaking scenery. The fairyland on earth is nothing more than this. In 2004, Bouchart Gardens was named "National Historic Site of Canada".

Take the ferry to Vancouver. The sea scenery is picturesque and the children were happy.

多么奇妙的冒险！尽管我们极度恐惧，但我们决定继续前行！

What a fantastic adventure! We decided to go for it in spite of our extreme fear. It was so much fun!

Integrate with nature on the Creekside golf course. Beautiful scenery, raging waters and flowing waterfalls are sure to bring out the “awe” in awesome!

 

异国生日派对

Birthday Party in A Foreign Country

夏令营期间，碰巧郭坤博、藏彦博两名同学过生日。老师同学们精心准备了一场别致的生日派对，温馨满满。

During the summer camp, it happened that Guo Kunbo and Zang Yanbo had birthdays. Teachers and students carefully prepared chic the birthday party.

 

郭坤博：7月23日是我的生日，这是我第一个没有父母陪伴却又特殊的生日。老师和同学们聚在一起为我庆祝生日。助教给了我们一份特别的礼物。我很开心。这太难忘了！谢谢你们！

July 23 was my birthday. It was specialbecause this was my first birthday without my parents’ company.My classmates and teachers all gathered to celebrate my birthday. I was very happy that our teaching assistant gave us a special gift. How memorable it was. Thank you so much.

New countries, unknown cities and unfamiliar faces, all these new things were waiting for us to experience and explore. Both colorful school activities and the in-class learning benefitted me a lot. What moved me most was that the teachers were very friendly. They were patient enough to guide me to study and assist me to well adapt to the new environment. The pure English-language environment also had my spoken English improved. Thanks the school for offering me such a great chance!
