The Center for Infection and Immunity (cii.columbia.edu) in the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University - one of the world's most advanced academic centers for research in infectious disease surveillance, diagnosis and discovery in acute and chronic illnesses has an immediate opening for an experienced bioinformatics scientist to drive and support research in the fields of pathogen discovery and diagnostics, microbiomics, host response and biomarker discovery in large scale projects from human and wildlife, chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis and neurodevelopmental disorders. The candidate will play a pivotal role in analyzing big datasets and will be working on high throughput platforms such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Microarrays, Proteomics, Metabolomics and Transcriptomics. The candidate will closely collaborate with the researchers and statisticians to develop innovative approaches for biomarker discovery and development of diagnostic platforms. The candidate will develop new pipelines and help with maintenance of existing code, assist with maintaining High Performance Computing Infrastructure, maintain genomic databases, and learn and implement machine-learning algorithms.
The candidate is expected to demonstrate the following skills and experience:- At least four (4) years of experience in bioinformatics, statistics, NGS and/or microarray data analysis.- Proficiency with writing high-quality code for pipelines to analyze large datasets.- Advanced working knowledge of NGS experimental design, data quality control, mapping and alignment software, normalization and clustering methods.- Basic knowledge of genetics and molecular biology with practical knowledge of genomic databases from major bioinformatics resources such as NCBI and EMBL.- Proficiency in Linux environments and High Performance Clusters.- Familiarity with multi-threading tools, resource management and optimization for parallel processing of very large datasets.- At least 2-3 years of experience of scripting languages Python, R, Shell and/or Perl (proficiency is desirable) in an academic or industrial environment.

The Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine is seekinga highly motivated postdoctoral associate who aspires to become anindependent academic researcher in the areas of addiction genetics, epigeneticsand computational psychiatry. Theposition is a two-year appointment expected to begin on September 1, 2019
The successful candidate will work primarily with Dr. Ke Xu,Associate Professor on projects funded by the NIH in identifying epigenetic (e.g.DNA methylation) alterations associated with substance misuse in HIV-infectedand non-infected populations. The role will involve in analyzing high throughputgenomic data including DNA methylation sequencing, RNAseq, single cell RNAseq,performing integrative analyses and delivering analytical results. The newlyestablished Xu lab employs both molecular/wet lab and data driven approaches. Bothlabs maintain an interactive collaboration sharing expertise and ideas. The successfulcandidate will therefore be expected to work independently as well ascollaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of scientists from both labs. Otherresearch duties include: authoring and co-authoring several manuscripts peryear, assisting with grant writing, collaborating with other investigators, andattending professional conferences.
Qualifications include a doctoral degree ingenetics/epigenetics, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, or other relevantareas. Excellent project management and writing skills are also required. Excellentprogramming skills (R or Python, Linux shell scripting) and experience withhigh performance computing in Linux environment are required. Experience withsubstance misuse research and 1-2 years prior post-doctoral experience arepreferred but not required.

Role
We are seeking a skilled scientist with a biochemical/biophysical background to join our Protein Analytics team. The Protein Analytics Scientist will work in a small team setting to support Adimab’s novel antibody discovery, maturation, and production platform. This role requires the ability to multi-task in a productive and fast-paced environment with high-throughput data requirements. The successful candidate will closely interface with the Antibody Discovery, High Throughput Expression, Molecular Core, and Computational Biology teams.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute LCMS-related assays to characterize therapeutic antibodies, investigate PTMs, identify epitopes, and survey chemical liabilities
Critically interpret data, troubleshoot experiments, and communicate the results to customers.
Operate and maintain multiple LCs & mass spectrometers
Ability to independently design & execute experiments to solve unique problems
Contribute to technology development research to improve existing capabilities or contribute to publication quality research
Prior experience with epitope mapping, HDX, or nanospray MS is desired but not required
Familiarity of scripting workflows and analyses is a plus
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, characterization of antibody samples using other analytical technologies such as ForteBio kinetics, chromatographic assays, CZE, etc.
Needed upon hire
Ph.D. in biochemistry, analytical chemistry or related with 0-2 years of experience or a M.S. with 3-5 years of industry experience
Strong biochemistry background with an in-depth technical knowledge of MS supported by publications
Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in independently designing and implementing MS-related assays
Strong attention to detail
Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and safety
Ability to proactively identify and troubleshoot problems
Adaptable and productive in a fast-paced environment
Communicates effectively and openly with colleagues and supervisors
